Teacher Jon has been teaching IELTS for about 5 years
About Teacher Jon
Teacher Jon has over 5 years of experience teaching IELTS - including 2 years of being a FULL-TIME Private tutor for the exam. He teaches 5 to 6 days a week from morning (8am) to night (10pm).
Most of his students have come to him to to get a score of 7.0 in the exam and have achieved that.
Why Private Tuition?
Attending preparation classes in Singapore and reading IELTS books are great. However, you won't improve much in your Speaking and Writing unless you have someone to point our your grammar and vocabulary mistakes.
Many students have taken the exam over and over again and have not improved their scores because they are repeating the same Writing and Speaking mistakes - without someone to correct you and tell you where you go wrong, you won't be able to improve.
Therefore, having one on one private tuition enables you to increase your score faster than is otherwise possible.
He started teaching English in 2003 in South America (Colombia). Since then, he's taught in Australia, China and Singapore. His students in Singapore come from various countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China, Myanmar, Russia, Ukraine, etc.
Over the past two years, he's taught over 100 students personally (one to one or one to two) and has dozens of testimonials from happy students having achieved their target IELTS score.
He's a committed teacher who gives a lot of homework to his students. However, don't expect to improve unless you're willing to put in a lot of time and effort into your studies! Improving in a language doesn't come overnight!
Jon teaches at his place that is about 5 minutes walk from Farrar Park MRT (Northeast Line). As he teaches many students each day, students have to travel to his place. He will travel to a student's place but only if it's not too far away - and the cost will be much higher.
Many students ask how many lessons are needed to achieve their target score. This is a bit impossible to answer as each person starts at a different level. Some students may need a few lessons, some 10 and some more than 10. However, 10 lessons is a good number and most students take the package of 10 lessons of 2 hours each.
If you want to focus on a special area, Jon will be glad cater to your needs. If you don't have any special areas to focus on, he will go through in detail Writing Task 1 and 2 and Speaking Parts 1 to 3 thoroughly. This includes how to approach the exam and the grammar and vocabulary needed.
